I don't remember anyone following up with Canon's reply though. Best to talk to Canon see what they say, and let us all know how you get on. My G9 has a scratch of the front element, I know exactly how it got there and it was my fault. I did look into having the lens module replaced, but decided that as it's only a problem shooting directly into the light, I could live with it. This is one of the many shots, post scratch.
