Cruise to Bempton Cliffs - what focal length?

Hi
I am due to go to Bempton Cliffs on a cruise from Bridlington on the Yorkshire Belle later this month to see birds.

One of the guides said that if the weather is good we could get as close as 40 feet to the cliff face.

Could anyone who has experience of Bempton from a boat, tell me what focal length you think would do the best job.
