Forum de-registration

Does anyone know how to de-register (if possible) from a Forum ?.

Most forums don't do 'de-registration', per se, because to 'delete' a user would remove all the data related to them and make a mockery of the archival aspect of the forum - the interrelation of questions, replies, comments, etc.

Ordinarily one would just not return to a forum. But, if one wanted to be, shall we say disassociated, one could change the user/display name and remove any data in one's profile.
