    Hi Welcome to the forum

You could look at the fuji SX1 it's a 26x zoom and is a very capable camera. It's a wee bit over your budget around 250 and has been around for a whie but still s good bridge camera

Hi. I have two Fuji cameras the XF1 which is a compact and the HS20 bridge, which is the XS1's older cousin. I use both these cameras for macro photos, for when I can't be bothered lugging around a DSLR. I mainly photograph insects and there is no shutter lag to speak of on either camera. I just read a review that states the shutter lag on the XS1 is really good for a bridge camera here is the link

that would be good cheers. the guy at currys was trying to get me to buy a ultra high performance sd card with a write speed of 65mbs and a read speed of 100mbs. is this a must or would a lesser card be ok?

Found this link. This looks like a perfectly good compact with a good zoom and plenty mega pixels seems a good buy at the price
