Ricoh has added to the available attachments for the modular GXR camera in the form of the P10 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 VC unit. The 10MP 10.7x optical zoom option adds to the already released A12 50mm and S10 24-72mm units.

Features of the P10 include a 5fps burst rate on full quality RAW mode, up to an ultra high 120fps (VGA), and 720p HD movies. The in-built sensor is a back illuminated 10MP CMOS device with improved low noise performance. Prices are expected to be just under £250 for the P10 unit, with GXR kits including the P10 also being made available for just under £650 from the start of June. A second GR prime lens module in the form of a 28mm f/2.5 is also due for release in the Autumn.

Ricoh’s Manger, Keita Hashizume and General Manager, Kazunobu Saiki, for the European Personal Multimedia Centre visited the WDC offices to show us the new P10 attachment and also announced a number of concept units for the GXR that may go into production, including a printer, projector, wireless extension, and hard drive. As the GXR is a uniquely placed piece of kit in the market there’s plenty of potential to expand beyond the usual trappings of a prestige compact.
