Three new models for DSLRs

Sony has announced three new additions to its 30-strong range of A-mount lenses. The new additions are all prime lenses and with one of the trio jointly developed with Carl Zeiss.

First up is the eye-catching Distagon T* 24mm F2 ZA SSM. Compatible with full-frame Alpha DSLRs, the 24mm was developed in conjunction with Carl Zeiss and is aimed at experienced photographers. The 24mm also features a built-in SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor), offers a focal range from 0.19m to infinity and offers an all-metal lens barrel.

Next is the DT 35mm F1.8 SAM, a lens which features in Sony’s ‘Easy Choice’ series. The Easy Choice range is aimed at offering value and compact, lightweight design for entry-level and advanced photographers alike. The lens weighs just 170g, and the maximum aperture of f/1.8 allows for an excellent depth of field.

Finally, it’s the 85mm SAM, a lens that takes the honour of being the first full-frame lens in Sony’s Easy Choice range. At 85mm, the lens is perfect for portraiture, operating at 127.5mm on an APS-C sensor. The maximum f/2.8 aperture also serves well for portraiture, while also offering a minimum focus of 0.6 metres – the closest in its class.

All three lenses will be available in September, and for more information visit the Sony website.
