The firmware updates for Sony's smartphone-pairing QX cameras include a number of new and improved shooting modes

The firmware version 2.0 for Sony’s QX cameras adds full HD movie recording at 1920×1080 (30p) for both models, which previously were able to shoot video at a resolution of 1440×1080 at 30fps.

Sony has also expanded the ISO range for both cameras. The QX10’s maximum ISO of 1600 will be expanded to 3200, while the QX100 will expand from max ISO 3200 to ISO 12800. Finally, the QX100 will gain Shutter Priority mode.

This follows on from an update to Sony’s PlayMemories Mobile app back in December, which aded a “Quick Viewer” photo browser and improved the speed of connectivity – which had been one of our main complaints in our review of the two QX cameras.

You can download the firmware update from Sony Asia Pacific, available for both Mac and Windows.
