Default Metz 36 4-AF4c on canon 1000d flash settings

Hi I have a canon 1000d and have just bought a Metz 36 af-4c for it and wonder what dial setting to use for indoor work as I am taking photographs of my granddaughters 18th birthday party which is being held at a working mens club and don't want to mess it up. I wonder if someone can help please

Hi according to what i can see it will work ettl so you have a couple of ways to go up the iso to 400 and put it in P mode or you coupd use av mode and let it choose the shutter speed, against this is it could use a slow sync. you could use manual mode set a shutter speed of 1/200 and then practise with the aperture settings but i would start at f 5.6. good luck
