Two Canon EOS 5D mk II DSLRs used to shoot High Dynamic Range video

HDR Video Demonstration Using Two Canon 5D mark II’s from Soviet Montage on Vimeo.

Footage from Soviet Montage productions shot on two EOS 5D Mk II’s has shown off the potential for high dynamic range video, working it much the same way as a HDR photo. The over and underexposed images are combined resulting in an impressive depth of sharpness across both high and low lights.

The same technology is being used in a forthcoming film, and creates some stunning results across an urban landscape. By utilising a beam splitter, which is either prism or mirror-based, a single image can be recorded simoultaneously by two cameras without having to deal with any issues with angles.
