Sony a700 replacement will be translucent mirror model

Sony has announced a new Alpha camera currently in development. Although details were thin on the ground the new model is expected to be a replacement for the discontinued Alpha a700 model.

Recent Sony developments in translucent mirror technology prompted the release of the a55 and a33, both of which use the translucent system to provide constant preview and a highly impressive continuous AF burst mode – 10fps for the a55 or 7fps for the a33 model.

Toru Katsumoto, Senior General Manager of Digital Imaging, alluded to a number of features on the camera such as HD video and that the camera will be available next year. Check What Digital Camera soon for a review of the a33 or head to www.sony.co.uk for more details.
