A yearlong collaboration between The Photographersu2019 Gallery and leading authors

The Photographers’ Gallery and Sophie Howarth and Stephen McLaren, authors of Street Photography Now, have joined forces for the Street Photography Now project.

The project is inviting photographers from around the world to ‘reassess and record the world we live in’ in a series of weekly projects.

From Friday 1st October, a leading street photographer will issue weekly instructions to those registered for the project. Photographers will have six days to respond to the instruction and upload just one photograph to the Street Photography Now Project gallery on Flickr.

The project will run over 52 weeks, and at the end of the project the photographer deemed to have had to most outstanding contribution will be awarded £1,000 of Thames & Hudson books, as well as have their work displayed at the Photographers’ Gallery.

If you’ve experienced any harassment when shooting street photography in recent times, from the Police, PCSOs or otherwise, then The Photographers’ Gallery are offering a talk which could serve you well during the Street Photography Now Project.

The Social is a monthly event help jointly by The Photographers’ Gallery and the BJP. This months’ event sees Stephen McLaren and Lawyer Rupert Grey discuss the current street photography climate. The event, taking place at Barrio Central, Soho, is on Monday 25th October from 6.30-9pm and is free to attend.
