Telephoto for Canon 450D
Looking for an 'entry' level Telephoto lens for my Canon 450D. Looking at Sigma AF 70-300 f4-5.6 £100 This is a DG Macro Canon fit
Tamron AF 70-300 f4-5.6 Di LD £120
CANON EF 75-300 f4 5.6 111 £140.
I believe the USM models are more recent??? but more than I can afford. Would any of the the other 3 be compatable with my 450D? Thanks

Sigma does several 70-300mm lenses. The budget one isn;t much good. The middle one, the APO Macro DG lens is better, but the DG OS lens is the best of all. Unfortunately its about £280, which may be above your budget, but you can get a used one for about £200. Lenses are one area where you can really save by buying used, as there's not much to go wrong with them. Just check for scratches and make sure the zoom and focus rings turn smoothly. Alternatively, if you're prepared to accept a slightly less ambitious foacl range the Sigma 50-200mm DC OS (http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/equ...dc-os-hsm.html) is about £150 and much better than pretty much anything else you can get for that price. Try browsing our lens reveiws for more information on what's out there.

Thanks for that Nigel. The Canon 55-250 was mentioned above This comes with IS, and lighter to use! Users photos I have seen, seem very clear. I shall look for the review in your address - What digital Camera.

55-250mm, Awsome lens for the price, I got a brand new import of amazon for £139, thats roughly the second hand value.
Far superior than the 2 above and the canon 75-300mm is as stated very poor.
