Ilford has released a statement announcing that recent news of its demise has been ?greatly exaggerated? and it is in fact ?alive and thriving.?
The announcement comes following yesterday?s news that Dixons is to stop selling 35mm cameras. In reports some broadcasters stated ?Ilford has gone bust? in relation to declining sales in the film market.
In 2004 Ilford Imaging Group went into receivership; however a management buy-out saved the manufacturing plant (based in Mobberley in Cheshire), which has 400 employees and continues to manufacture black and white photographic products.
