Raw image recording times improved

Nikon has released a firmware update for its Coolpix P7000. Version 1.1 of the firmware addresses several issues with the camera raised in our recent test.

Amongst the areas to receive improvements is the much-maligned Raw record time. Nikon claims that the image recording time when shooting Raw is much improved, and early reports confirm that the time taken to clear the P7000’s buffer has indeed improved by up to 30%.

The firmware update has also improved lens control with a view to reducing the frequency with which the “Initializing lens. Cannot focus” message is displayed. Another issue dealt with is highlight detail being blown out on the monitor with the shutter half-pressed and Active D-Lighting enabled.
