Help please!!!! How do I retrieve images?

Hi all,

Yesterday a friend of mine popped my memory card into his Mac to copy some photos. Then, after putting the card back into my 5100 about a third of the pics can't be seen and are displaying 'cannot display image'.

Does anybody know how I can retive these images, if they are there at all? Any advice will be greatfully received.
