Canon Lenses for a Beginner
Hi,
I've just bought a Canon 40D & am looking for some kit to buy for it; Lenses & Flash.
Suggestions already include the follows:
Canon - Nifty Fifty
Canon - 18-55mm
Tamron - 17-50mm 2.8
Canon - 55-250 IS
Canon 430 EX II Speedlite
Canon Battery Grip BG-E2N
What do we think?
What would you recommend?
Thanks,
WTP

hi wanna
you might need a tripod, monopod & as for other lens what do you intend to take pictures of
there is all ways a 70 - 200mm or a 70 - 300mm lens to look at or you could just buy the sigma 50 - 500mm that got you covered 10x zoom lens
-
first question is what do you shoot that will determine what type of lenses you need

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to reply & apologies for my lack of information.
I would like to have dabble in everything really, hence my initial choices;
- Portrait (Kids & Family)
- Landscapes & Nature
- Sports (Football)
Thanks again,
WTP

hi you dont say what your budget is but for a start i would look at something like a sigma 17-70os its a good alround lens that can used for landscape and portraits the 55-250is isnt a bad lens and hould be ok for outdoor work

Budget
£500 tops, less is better for all three, that is.

Can you get a 18-55 IS 2 and 55-250mm IS 2 for that? Google seems to suggest you may only need half that budget for the lenses.
The Canon 17-85mm was the kit lens for the 40D....it'll cost about as much as the above two lenses and probably won't be as good for football as having a tele-zoom.
You could save the rest of the money for something you identify a need for yourself....perhaps a nice bag to carry it all around in?
