sx30is vs DSLR

I bought a Canon Powershot SX30IS last year and im not completely satisfied with the quality.
I am thinking of getting a Canon 1100d. What lenses should I get to have a similar zoom to that of my SX30IS and what other cameras and accessories would be good for a beginner such as myself?

hi lets look at the zoom the sx30is gives x35 zoom that looking at 24-840 in full frame terms. the 1100d has a crop factor of 1.6 so you would need a lens in the 500 range to give you what you have now, and they are expensive.
what do you take pictures of it will help to give better advice

I normally take general photos at home or when on trips. These include animal and sometimes architectural photos or just any random shot which im sure and 18-55mm lens would do fine.If I get a 75-300mm lens and a 2x extender will that be good?

The problem with the 2x extender is that they need to be top quality to be any good. You also lose 2 stops. So F4.5 is around F8. OK if you have good light. Far better to go with 1.4. But again, you need to pay top prices for a good one.

If you're about to buy a DSLR plus lens and extender, you will need to know a lot more than just F stops. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmNIo...eature=related

And don't forget. Post processing is an important part of photography and should be used to sharpen and enhance pictures taken with your camera. what i would do is look at a 550d its a good buy and you wont out grow it any time soon. also i would not get the 75-300 it is not a great lens a better buy would be the efs 55-250is that with the kit 18-55 would see you settled
