    Hi and welcome.

Both are capable cameras. The Nixon D3100 is a good price but is more entry level http://www.photographyblog.com/revie..._d3100_review/

I would get the Canon http://www.photographyblog.com/revie...s_600d_review/ just for the articulated screen and higher resolution making it easier to see if images are sharp.

See the differences side by side http://www.dpreview.com/products/com...ts=nikon_d3100

If you want 'touch screen', the Canon 650D is now out http://www.photographyblog.com/news/canon_eos_650d/ meaning the 600D will come down in price.

Thanks for that. I just thought that 185 was quite i big jump, if the d600 was about 100 cheaper then i would have gone for that - I also wanted another lens and a flash gun and i didnt want to go to mad at first. I think i will take your advice and see if the canon comes down cheers
