Adobe's consumer software enters its 10th year

Adobe has announced the latest version of its popular consumer software Photoshop Elements 10. The software, which now reaches its 10th generation, continues to bring the functionality of the full Photoshop version to the consumer thanks to it being powered by the same engine as its bigger brother.

The consumer side to the software is aided with the addition of new Guided Edits. These allow photographers easy access through a few simple steps to otherwise complex image edits, such as Picture Stacking and the Orton effect.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 also now features a host of new text functionality. The text tools allow users to add curving and flowing text to photos along custom paths and shapes. A Smart Brush feature also debuts which lets users add unique effects to images with the stroke of a brush, with features including Pencil Sketch and Oil Pastel.

Elements 10 users are not just given access to tools suited to beginners, as the latest version now features improved organisational tools as well. A new Object Search functionality will automatically find objects such as landmarks, flowers or pets in images, whilst the Elements Organiser can automatically detect duplicate or near-duplicate images to help tidy your image library.

As well as all of these new features, Photoshop Elements 10 now allows developers to create tablet and mobile application to interact with the software via an included API.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 is available for Windows and Mac with a suggested retail price of £79, or for an upgrade price of £65. For more information on the software and to download the latest version, visit the Adobe website.
