u2018Most amazing iPhone yetu2019 debuts with all-new camera

Apple has announced the latest model in its iPhone series – the iPhone 4S. The handset is labelled by Apple as ‘the most amazing iPhone yet’ and features a raft of improvements in the camera department, as well as a new processor, new operating system and full iCloud support.

The iPhone 4S appears much the same as its predecessor from the outside, with the handset sharing the same design and form, although a host of transformations have taken place under the hood. The all new camera features a new 8 megapixel sensor coupled with a new custom f/2.4 lens and advanced hybrid IR filter which, Apple claims, will combine to produce sharper, brighter and more accurate images.

New features in the Camera and Photos apps allow you to access the camera straight from the lock screen for quick shooting, and also allow use of the volume-up button to quickly snap a photo. The Photos app also allows the photographer to edit images on the go by either cropping, rotating, enhancing or removing red-eye. The iPhone 4S now also supports HD video capture at full 1080p resolution, and is supported by video image stabilisation.

Other improvements include the aforementioned full iCloud integration as previously highlighted at Apple’s WWDC earlier in the year. The handset also benefits from the inclusion of Apple’s A5 processor – the very same as found in the iPad 2.

A final crowning addition to the new handset is the voice control ‘intelligent assistant’ functionality labelled ‘Siri’. According to Apple, Siri understands the context of your speech, allowing you to speak naturally when you ask it questions. It will then either provide an answer to your question or perform a task as instructed, for example booking a meeting in the calendar.

The iPhone 4S will be available from October 14th, with prices varying according to contract. For more information on the new features of the handset, including full pricing and availability, visit the dedicated Apple website.
