Owners of a Sony NEX camera were treated to a new third-party tele-photo lens option this month with the launch of the Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC. The lens has been designed with the compact NEX series in mind – at just 460g it’s relatively lightweight, whilst it also features a stepping motor in its AF system which is optimal for the contrast-detection AF system the NEX range employs.

The lens, which covers a focal range of 27 – 300mm in combination with a Sony NEX camera, features a three-coil Vibration Compensation system for a stable viewfinder and cleaner images.

A suggested retail price has yet to be confirmed, although the lens should hit stores at the beginning of next year. For more information visit Tamron online.
