EXR pair added to growing range

Fujifilm has continued a bumper morning of releases with the announcement of a pair of new compacts that will sit in the manufacturers EXR range. Both the FinePix F660EXR and F770EXR feature Fujifilm’s acclaimed EXR CMOS technology and look like promising compacts.

The pair of EXR models have a lot in common – the pair share Fujifilm’s 1/2in 16MP EXR-CMOS sensor which, Fujifilm claims, will offers unparalleled image quality in a variety of lighting conditions. The aforementioned EXR technology allows the photographer to choose between three ‘EXR’ modes – namely High Resolution, Low Noise or Wide Dynamic Range – to facilities the best results in a variety of lighting conditions.

Other shared features between the pair include a 3in, 460,000 dot LCD screen, as well as full 1080p HD movie capture, Raw image capture and full PASM shooting controls, as well as Fujifilm’s Motion Panorama 360 mode. The pair’s movie modes are also capable to shooting up to 320fps, albeit at a reduced resolution.

The main difference between the two regards the respective focal ranges. The Fujifilm FinePix F660EXR features a 15x optical zoom, covering a focal range 24-360mm in equivalent terms, whereas the F770EXR features a slightly more powerful 20x optical zoom offering a focal range of 25-500mm in equivalent terms. One final difference on inspection is that the latter will ship with high sensitivity GPS technology, allowing for geo-tagging of images, while the pair will both be available in a trio of varying colours.

There’s currently no word on a price or release date for the pair, so stay tuned to Fujifilm online for more information.
