16MP APS-C sized sensor with 24-85mm lens appears on Japanese road map

A new sensor module has appeared on the Ricoh Japanese website, offering a 16MP APS-C CMOS sensor. This will offer the largest resolution this far in the system, with the other two APS-C modules offering only 12MP.

Both other modules have fixed focal lengths, being 50mm and 28mm, giving the new option another advantage. The 24-85mm zoom lens gives an amount of versatility, although no details are available so far relating to aperture or focal distances.

We are awaiting confirmation of the unit’s existence, and any further specifications, but for the time being the unit is currently appearing at Ricoh’s Japanese website.
