Panasonic Lumix S5 boasts a 16MP sensor, 4x zoom and 28mm wide angle lens

In addition to the new SZ range, Panasonic has released
other compact models, including the new Lumix S5.

With a ‘simple, smart and stylish’ motto, the 16.1-megapixel
S5 has a 28mm wide angle lens and 4x optical zoom to extend to 112mm. MEGA OIS
(optical image stabilisation) is included to shift the lens to counteract
handshake.

Like the SZ7 also announced today, the S5 incorporates
Panasonic’s ‘lightspeed’ autofocus to acquire focus in a super-fast
0.1seconds.

The S5’s iA (intelligent Auto) mode makes point and shoot
work easy – the camera recognises the scene at hand and auto adjusts the
settings accordingly. Panoramic Shot and Auto Retouch are other attractive
scene modes and the camera is also able to capture 720p HD movie clips. Stills
and movies can be uploaded to Facebook or Youtube using the Uploader which
makes the whole process quick and easy.

The Lumix S5 will be available in February, though there’s
no word on pricing as yet.
