The SP-720UZ and SP-620UZ is the latest in a long line of superzoom compacts from Olympus

Olympus has announced the SP-720UZ and SP-620UZ superzoom compact cameras, aimed at those looking to upgrade from a smaller compact and want an all-in-one solution with a large zoom range.

The SP-620UZ comes with a 21x optical zoom (25-525mm) while the top-of-the-range SP-720UZ delivers fully 26x magnification (26-676mm). There are a selection of automatic aids that include Multi-Motion Movie IS (on the SP-620UZ) and HDR Backlight Adjustment (on the SP-720UZ), designed to balance exposure when shooting against the light.

Other specs inlcude a 14MP CMOS sensor for the SP-620UZ and a 16MP CCD chip for the SP-720UZ. HD video recording is at 1080p on the SP-720UZ, while the SP-620UZ can shoot at 720p.

Both cameras have 3in screens, with the SP-720UZ featuring a resolution of 460K-dots and the SP-620UZ with a resolution of 230K-dots respectively.

The SP-720UZ is available from late March for £229.99. The SP-620UZ costs £179.99 and comes out around a month earlier.
