Olympus OM-D rumours

Olympus has hinted at a new camera, taking out an advert in our sister title Amateur Photographer, announcing that a new camera is on its way. No precise details were given, apart from the letters O and M printed in bold, hinting that the new camera will hark back to the popular OM film SLRs from Olympus. Coincidently, the OM series celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

There have also been a couple of tightly cropped shots leaked on the internet that purport to be parts of an OM-D – the name many people expect will be the name of the new camera, thanks in part to Olympus Germany trade marking it. For images and more info, click here.

Kyodo News International has suggested that the OM-D will be the top model in the company’s mirrorless system, sitting above the PEN E-P3. Rumours suggest that the OM-D will have a resolution of 16MP and equipped with high-speed autofocus.
