10th annual awards set to be biggest ever

The International Travel Photographer of the Year competition for 2012 is now open and excepting entries. The competition, one of the world’s most prestigious and now in its 10th year, features an impressive list of prizes including everything from all expenses paid photo trips in exotic locations around the world, to the chance to blend your own whisky.

This year’s overall winner, chosen from winners in the multiple portfolio categories, will be the first ever recipient of the newly introduced Cutty Sark Award. This award consists of two elements – firstly the winner will receive £2500 in cash and a £2500 fee for an international commission to shoot images for Cutty Sark Blended Scotch Whisky. The second element of the award will give the winner the chance to blend their own whisky in the company of Cutty Sark Master Blender Kirsteen Campbell.

As ever, this year’s TPOTY competition is comprised of various portfolio categories. These include the themes of ‘People Watching’, ‘Wild Plant’, ‘Journey’ and ‘Celebration’ amongst others. Individual prizes for these categories include a Fujifilm X-Pro 1 kit, a nine-day tour of Kenya and 5-star break on the Greek Islands.

For the first time this year the TPOTY competition will also feature an HD video category. Entrants are tasked with submitting a 60-second film covering any aspect of travel, with the winner receiving £1000 from Cutty Sark Blended Scotch Whisky.

Those looking to enter have until September 17th to submit their images. Entries can be uploaded online or sent in as prints, whilst HD video entries will need to be submitted by post. Entry fees start at £10, and for more information head over to the Travel Photographer of the Year website.
