    Default Macro Images..

Hi Everyone, can someone please take a look at my macro images taken with my Panasonic FZ100. I am thinking of getting a Canon 60D with a 100mm macro lens, the question is would I see a difference in the quality of my images, your comments would be most welcome, many thanks..Caroline

    hi Caroline

Just took a look at your images really nice now im no expert when it comes to macro images as i only own 2 lens that give me macro at 200mm and at 180mm to 300mm on the other lens but they are not like a proper marco lens ive seen images of im sure you would see a difference with a proper marco lens from images ive seen on peoples flickr pages the detail ive seen on some images just blows me away and as for the 60d thats a nice body by Canon i think you would be making the right choice if you did buy the both and a plus you can buy other lens for other kind of images you want to take with a DSLR
hope that can be of some help
    all the best

Hi Caroline have had a quick look at your shots for images taken on a compact type camera with a fix lens they are what’s to be expected, the first one of the bug is the better of the two although to be honest with you the composition could be better if you had got lower and in front of him, the second one of the butterfly seems to have a lot of noise and not in focus. As for your question regarding getting the Canon 60d with the 100mm macro my personal view is get it you will not regret it, you will find it a steep learning curb and you will at some stage want off camera flash or a dedicated macro flash so you can increase your DOF as with a macro lens at 1 to 1 it will require a lot of light or high F-stop like F/2.8 to F5.6 and even then not all of the subject will be in focus, to achieve that is when the flash comes into the frame and you can increase your DOF between F/14 to F/22. I will leave a link below to my flickr page so you can view the different images with and without flash, just click on my 90mm Tamron folder. There are also two links to someone using the Canon 60d and 100mm macro lens so you can see the quality that combo will produce, if you search flickr for Canon 60d macro it will bring other images up.

    Hi,
Looked at your photos, they look fine to me, but there again I certainly lack the expertise to judge the images
