A definition of HD (High Definition)


A collective term for video and broadcast formats which exceeds the quality of Standard Definition. These can be either 1,280x720p, 1,920x1080i or 1,920x1080p, also known as 720p, 1080i and 1080p respectively. The ‘p’ and ‘i’ suffixes denote whether the format is progressively scanned or interlaced.
