AF-S NIKKOR FX 24-85mm and AF-S NIKKOR DX 18-300mm debut

Nikon has accompanied the landmark production of its 70-millionth NIKKOR lens with the announcement of two new optics.

The first, and arguably most eye-catching, announcement is the AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR. The FX-format zoom lens features Nikon’s second-generation Vibration Reduction technology, as well as Extra-Low Dispersion glass and three aspherical lens elements.

The interesting element of the lens is it’s compact size and versatile focal range – speculation has been rife over the past few months that Nikon may soon release a DSLR with a full-frame sensor but in a more compact body, such as a D600.

Sales of the 24-85mm f/3.5-5.6 start on 28th June, with an RRP of £519.99.

The second of the new lenses is the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. The versatile lens offers a 16.7x zoom ratio encompassing an attractive wide-angle and impressive tele-end. The lens also features Vibration Reduction II technology, as well as three Extra-Low Dispersion glass elements and Silent Wave Motor technology..

The 18-300mm lens will also hit shelves on 28th June, and will feature an RRP of £849.99.
