Bright sparks can make the most of Recycle Week (June 18th - 25th) by trading in old MP3 players, digital cameras and TVs at Tesco and help to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.

Tesco’s Electrical Trade-in turns old electrical goods into hard cash which can be donated to Cancer Research UK, Tesco Charity of the Year 2012. All money raised will help the partnership reach its £10 million target to fund research into early diagnosis and detection.

It couldn’t be easier for people to take part. Simply visit www.tescoelectricaltradein.com to find out how much each item is worth. Items can then be traded in throughout the year at selected Tesco stores or posted using a free label that can be downloaded from the website.

Claire Rowney, Cancer Research UK’s head of corporate partnerships, said: “Whenever we buy a new mobile phone or MP3 player it’s always difficult to know what to do with the old ones.

“Inevitably they get stuck in a drawer, never to surface again. Tesco’s Electrical Trade-in is a great way to declutter and raise money to support Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists beat cancer at the same time.”

More than 300,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK every year. The money raised by Tesco stores, distribution centres and offices will be spent on supporting 32 early diagnosis and detection research projects in local communities across the UK. Tesco and Cancer Research UK also aim to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of the disease and reduce people’s anxiety about cancer.
