Panasonic TM700-Merged 1080/50p MTS can not play on WD TV Live
I recently bought a Panasonic tm700 from Amazon based on comparisons and opinions I read here and elsewhere on the net. I used it to record my family outings, it performs very excellent as it said. I just use its unique mode 1080/50p in order to get the highest quality. I have ever heard that if you want the sharpest image possible from the HDC-TM700, you should use its 1080/50p settings. So all my shootings are in 1080/50p with .mts extension, but the camcorder creates a new 'mts' file whenever the 'record' button is activated. As a result, I was given 40-60 files for one hour recording. So I need a function of mass merging of the 'mts' files to a single 'mts' file to facilitate management and then play on WDTV live.
I have used the Panasonic HDC-TM700 attachment - HD Writer AE version 2.1 software. This software does allow for importing 1080/50p footage. And I merged them in groups of 4-10 on the actual HD Writer Edit timeline. Unfortunately, every time we tried performing this action the software crashed after about 15 minutes into the conversion process.
Then searched online, I found and tried different methods to join 'mts' files by using DOS copy command, tsMuxeR, tsSplitter and tsRemux. When playing the output file on WD TV live, there is a problem at every joint of the video clips. The video either halt or unsynchronized at the joint. The video can be resumed normal after 'Stop' and 'Play' again. Sometimes, the player just plays the files but after around 20 minutes it drops the Video and starts showing ghostly images with garbled Audio. I have to restart the Device to continue seeing the Video.
So Any idea what's the problem? Can anyone advise other software that will resolve the video halt problem? Is there any tool that can offer the mass selection and merge the 'mts' video files and let me play with WD TV live?
1080/60p file is difficult to be dealt with by most of software. HD writer is a suck, you can throw it away. Tsmuxer is commonly used for merging mts, m2ts files, no matter the files come from. But such a program often output file with the audio track slipping and falling behind by about a second. If you want to get a/v sync for merging your mts files from tm700 to play on wd tv live. I will recommend three ways by using Tsmuxer.
First: A/v not sync often happen because in each mts file the audio track has a slightly different length then the video track. One solution is to reencode the audio of the joined mts files to maintain synchronization.
Second: It is also possible to multiplex mts clips into a Matroska container and use the variable frame rate feature to maintain audio sync. The idea is to modify the frame rate for just one frame at the beginning of each join point to slow the video down enough to maintain sync. This will preserve the original quality of both the video and audio tracks of each mts file.
Third: Use the DOS combine command for combining mts file to avoid any problems with the audio or video.
Hope it helps.
As soon as I got my TM700, I donít expect HD Writer AE would give a help, and buried it at the bottom of the box. LOL
I still keep my videos unaltered on my Netgear with the original folders like BDMV, STREAM, BLIPINF, PLAYLIST. However, there are too many files.
The readme.txt in the tsmuxer pack is in Russian, and I finaaly got the English version of read me.txt for tsmuxer, after a hard looking. I tried the command line version for two small clips with about 3 minutes and 48 seconds in total, but the merged file from the command line only show 3 minutes and 38 seconds on vlc player. Quite frustrated.
After downloading many other programs, I got aunsoft final mate to join my tm700 videos. It provides the true lossless joining, and works in a split of seconds. The joined movie shows the total time correctly, and it is easy to stitch different clips. You may try it for your WD TV Live.
