Olympus has added two new models to its Pen series

Olympus has updated and refreshed its PEN range of Compact System Cameras, with the E-PL5 replacing the E-PL3 and the E-PM2 an update to the E-PM1.

Both models share the same 16.1MP CMOS sensor that’s found in the company’s sought-after OM-D, with an ISO sensitivity up to 25,600. Both models retain the two-axis image stabilization system though, rather than the advanced five-axis internal image stabilization set-up used by the OM-D.

Combined with Olympus’s Fast AF, both PEN cameras feature Touch Shutter, allowing you to focus and fire the shutter by simply tapping the rear screen. While the rear screen sits flush with the body on the E-PM2, the E-PL5 sports a 3in wide, 460k-dot tilt-screen that rotates 170°, meaning self-portraits are possible. The design of both cameras has also changed, taking closer design influences from the E-P3, while the E-PL5 has a removable grip.

Prices are still to be confirmed, but expect the E-PM2 to be around £499 with 14-42mm, while the E-PL5 with the same lens will be around £649.
