Default Which memory card class do I need?

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to buying memory cards as its been a while since I got one for my Canon DSLR

However, I am about to possibly buy a Canon PowerShot S95 and am in a bit of a mix as to which card I need - well class that is. I may use the HD video function occasionally but most of my shots will be stills.

Can anyone shed any light on the subject for me and make any suggestions as to any particular brand that is reliable with a Canon.

    Many thanks

Default Class 6 sdhc should be fast enough

For a compact camera i think that a Class 6 SDHC card will be fast enough to capture and r/w to and from the card .

    Good brands
    - adata
    - Kingston
    - lexar
    - Sandisk
    - silicon power

    stay away form
extreme memory.com once had a card that was so corrupted it almost killed my dslt at that time

find out what the max card size is that is recognized by the camera (a good photostore will help to find out) and buy better 8x 4GB sdhc than 2x 32 GB sdhc
