d90 or canon 550d

hello guys, i really need your help. im going to buy my first dslr camera this christmas. instead buying a beginners camera i decided to go for a mid-range dslr. mainly i would be taking pictures and the video mode would be used on the casual basis making non professional videos. So videos would not be my primary concern. if i would buy canon it would come with 18-135mm lense and nikon with 18-105mm lense. i know that canon is much better on video mode,but in regards to picture quality im confused. At this stage lost and dont know which one to buy.guys PLEASE HELP ME

Hi there the 550d has the better video it is also the newer camera and has 18mp. That said the nikon is still a good camera.
The 550d is excellent I have one but I wouldnt go for the 18-135 lens its not as good as the 18-55, iwould get the 18-55 kit and then shoot some pictures then decide what other lenses to get
