    Smile Which Lens?

    Hi

I have recently upgraded from a Canon 500D to a 60D so my boyfriend has inherited the previous.

He is a newbie and has no lenses so i want to buy him one for christmas, he is mainly interested in Wildlife and Sports so i think a 70-300mm would be best.

I have been looking at the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM and the Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 DG OS.

We are off to Africa in august so want him to be able to get good quality shots without spending a fortune.

I have heard mixed reviews about both so not sure what to go for.

Also, i mainly use a Sigma 70-200 f2.8(non OS) for wildlife, sometimes with a 2x tc. which takes min app to f5.6, but i think the quality deteriorates a fair bit. I'm pondering weather to buy the Sigma 120-400mm f4.5-5.6 or the canon L 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 but not sure how much difference there would be in the quality.

A lot of questions i know but any advice apreciated.

these are some shots taken with my sigma 70-200, the birds are without the 2x tc and the deer with the 2xtc
