Both these camera have had good reviews. Any of them will do what you are looking fot....Hope the helps you graham

As wave said, for good sports shots you can't beat a DSLR, but this will cost you at least £350, and then you'll need to spend a couple of hundred more on a telephoto lens (though if you shop around for a twin lens deal it will work out cheaper, such as this http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-...s-kit/p1028309 deal for £450).
Whether this is above your budget, or its too big for what you want I don't know. If it is then you'll need to look at a bridge/superzoom camera such as the recently discontinued but still available http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-Lu...7756276&sr=8-1. This is smaller and cheaper and has a built-in long zoom but slower to use for action and the image quality won't be quite so good.
What to look for?
I have just joined this site and I am looking for advices to buy a digital camera slr.
I don't have any experience in using a professional camera.
I always wanted a big camera to take nice pictures of everything: landscape, portraits and I hope you could advice me on what to look for when I buy one.
Because I am a beginner I look for a camera with an average price: £300-£350.
The Nikon D3100 is the most beginner friendly DSLR but its above your budget (about £499). If you shop around though you can find the previous model, the http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikon-D3000-...8351505&sr=1-2 within your budget which is also very good. Or look at the http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-...s-kit/p1030429, http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-...-lens/p1521112 or http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-...-lens/p1033548.
