Nikon has added a new wide-angle zoom lens to its FX-format lineup - the AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED

On the same day as announcing the AF-S NIKKOR 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR, Nikon has also launched a new wide-angle zoom in the form of the AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED.

Strengthening Nikon’s FX-format line-up, the AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED features an improved optical construction and silent wave motor for quiet, fast and accurate autofocus when coupled to any Nikon DSLR body.

Weighing 385g, the lens features an optical construction that’s made up of 12 elements in eight groups. To help correct unwanted aberrations and distortion, three aspherical lenses and two ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements make up the design. Adding to this Nikon has used its super integrated coating to reduce the affects of ghosting and flare.

Compatible with Nikon DSLRs, including entry level DSLRs that don’t feature an in-built autofocus motor, the lens has a metal mount at the rear and rubber weather sealing to provide extra durability.

Expected to be available in early March, the AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED will cost £668.
