Hot on the heels of Nikon’s D600, Canon has unveiled the EOS 6D – Canon’s smallest and lightest full-frame DSLR to date.

Similar in size and weight to an EOS 60D, the 6D packs in a 20.2MP CMOS sensor with a native ISO range of 100-25,600, which can be expanded further to an ISO equivalent of 50-102,400.

There’s a newly-developed 11-point AF system which Canon claims delivers the strongest low light performance of any Canon AF system to date.

There’s a 3in rear screen and like the 5D Mk III, the 6D features Canon’s latest DIGIC 5+ image processor.

The EOS 6D features integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing images to be wirelessly transferred to external storage devices, uploaded to Facebook or YouTube, or printed wirelessly to a Wi-Fi enabled printer, while there’s also GPS connectivity also.

The EOS 6D will be available in December at £1799 for the body only, while it’ll also be bundled with the EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM for £2519. They’ll also be a new battery grip, the BG-E13, priced at £249.

We’re here live at Photokina in Cologne where the camera has just been announced and will bring you a full hands-on verdict with video and images as soon as we can.
