Old v New ?

Morning all

I am seeking advice ! There are numerous threads for people buying their first Digital SLR as I am however I think my predicament is one that hasn't been covered.

I was all set to purchase a new Nikon 3000D, my first Digital SLR and one I felt was easy to use, did what I wanted - taking better pictures as my little girl grows up, holidays etc etc.

However I have been offered by a friend his 2nd hand Canon 450d which I know is in great nick, recently serviced and I know he has taken great care of it.

My predicament ? Well do I pay c£350 for a new Nikon 3000d or about £300 for the 2nd hand Canon ?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your response mate. To be fair I more than likely will do but just wanted people thoughts on these 2 models as I dont want to be making a costly mistake.

What do you think about them ?
