In our recent group test we found the Panasonic Lumix GH1 to be the best all round consumer camera stills camera on the market for HD video.
Sure the Canon 5D Mk.II is ultimately better quality but the GH-1 is smaller and has the benefits of being able to use the viewfinder for video, a vari-angle LCD, 10x Leica zoom lens as well as being about a grand cheaper.
That's why I chose it to shoot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoPSz2gRqbM. It's worth noting that as the warm up was 9 minutes long I would not have been able to film this in HD on any of the Nikon DSLRs, or the Pentax K7. The Canons are the only other interchangeable lens still cameras that can shoot clips this long.
