Fujinon XF23mmF1.4 R is designed specifically for use with Fujifilm's X-Trans CMOS sensors

Fujifilm’s new Fujinon XF23mmF1.4 R wide-angle lens, announced today, is designed to deliver full-frame resolution and performance in Fujifilm’s mirrorless X-mount cameras.

With a fast maximum aperture of f/1.4 and a focal length equivalent to 35mm in 35mm format, Fuji has elected to produce a versatile lens for a number of different applications, with high low-light performance.

The eleven lens elements, including one aspherical, have all been treated with Fuji’s High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating to reduce reflections, ensure an even spread of light and increase durability.

An internal focusing system that includes a built-in DC coreless motor delivers fast AF performance. The XF23mm is also equipped with a number of tools to aid manual focusing, including a camera-to-subject distance indicator and a depth-of-field scale on the barrel.

Fuji says that the lens has a minimum working distance of around 28cm, giving it some utility for close-up work.

The XF23mm weighs 300g and measures 63mm in length – Fuji says this makes it the most compact and lightweight lens of its class. It has an angle of view of 63.4º and a minimum aperture of f/16.

The Fujinon XF23mmF1.4 R will be available in the UK from October 2013, priced at £849.99.
