The new "smaller" pixels sound rather counter intuitive.

Even professionals would have to a mug to part with that sort of money for a camera.

But more importantly, how on earth are you going to process that amount of data at realistic speeds? The computer hardware is another three years away.

Um...riiiight...it's only 50MP....it's not like we're talking 50GP!
You could build a workstation today that could handle it. It would just cost you...but then if you're willing to splash out £25k on a camera, you'll spend a couple of grand on a PC.

I scan 6x6 and 6x9 negatives and they are much bigger than 50mb. I have no problem in CS3 ... a little slow at times but nothing to fret about

It's not a real 'Blad is it, as far as I know it's a Fuji underneath with a Fuji lens with a Kodak sensor

No. Too stylish for a Blad, but very cool looking. Functionally no doubt it is superb, beyond anything except a spy sattelite. Any criticism is just sour grapes. If I employed a pro to take my picture then I would expect nothing less.

Yeah, but unless it has Fuji's "couple timer", it's worth jack sh*t imo

They'll be £25,400 cashback on that before you know it, making it yours for just £444 squid.

Why so? The kind of professional who is the target market for such a camera might in previous years have spent that sort of money on film and processing in a year. For them it's a no-brainer! In any case, the current H3DII-39 costs a similar wedge if memory serves.

Go on then, explain how.
Not paying VAT is not the same as the Exchequer paying the VAT for you.

Some will also be able to offset the entire capital expense against profits, so it will effectively cost them diddly squat!

Unless things have recently changed you can only do that against Op Ex. For Cap Ex you can only claim the depreciation of an asset against profits.

Yes but you can claim depreciation at 25% year on year plus the VAT I'd forgotten about.
