Northampton and its iron-stone villages for the rich mix of building styles, texture and colour. Salcey Forest for a walk at tree-top height.
Milton Keynes for all sorts of cows as well as good birding spots, modern construction/buildings for the archives, and town/city planning issues.
Stoke Bruerne or Three Locks for canal side shots. Dunstable Downs for shots of gliders and hang gliders - can occasionally look spectacular.
Over bridges on the M1 for checking out whether the AF really does track!

Where were you thinking you would go? I would imagine MK is relatively easy for people to get to by car or train etc. The architecture is supposed to be quite good (I've never been. I've driven through quite a few times however).
I've organised Oxford and London trips before. It's a case of suggesting a venue and a couple of dates and seeing who bites. Then pick the date most people can make.
Oh! And make sure there's a good pub for something to eat and a drink.

And one more thing. I'm not organising another one for a while. If I'm involved they just become a drink fest with not much photography involved.

Accessing MK can be dead easy, or quite difficult at the weekends via rail when track possession is at its highest. (NR is building new tracks and platforms at MK Central station.) Bustitution tends to happen quite often, and I'm not bright enough to know where the NR plans are, if any.
Car parking can be free, and not timed, at the weekends as the masses of free places nearer the station aren't hogged by commuters getting some exercise walking the half-mile to the station. Other spaces near The Hub where much of the current construction is happening are Pay and Display charged every day. I've never found a space mid-week.
I rarely use a tripod in city centres, so have no idea what the policy might be, but the shopping centres are private property and patrolled. They're even using some of these stand-on electric duo-cycles(?) which raise the guy about 20-30cm and provide a speed of around 4-5mph. There are city parks from the west of the rail tracks through to the pseudo country style Campbell park towards the M1 in the east about 1mile away, and there's a variety of lakes, some with bird-hides.

Can't blame me for the last one. YOU wanted to take us to all those pubs.
And I think it was because I was driving and couldn't drink

Segways? Now that has to be worth a shot or two.

Thanks, Nick.
Segway. That's the thing - from the brochure it seems as though their max speed is 12.5mph. I've seen them on two visits so far, and have no idea whether they've been bought or just being assessed. Might require some surreptitious snapping if they're only seen inside the shopping centre.
