If that's true, 'sustained write-speed of 46.5MB/sec', it's amazing - is that 46.5 mega-bytes per second or should it be 46.5 Mb, mega-bits per second?

Got to be Megabits, I think. Otherwise, it would save a 10Mb raw image in a quarter of a second...
