I want to upgrade registered Photoshop CS to CS3. My system is win xp, sp2. CS is installed on partition 'D'. When I insert the upgrade cd it is ejected. Is this because CS3 doesn't find CS on 'C'? If so should I uninstal CS and re-instal it in 'C'. Would online CS registration be involved?
Thought I'd ask here - Adobe site is too complicated.
thanks

It shouldn't matter where you have CS installed. If the upgrade process can't find CS it will ask you to put the CS disk in the drive as confirmation that you have the legal right to the upgrade.
If the upgrade disk is being rejected it may be faulty. Try a gentle clean of the disk.

I installed my CS3 upgrade without first installing my copy of CS2 and everything was fine. On first startup of CS3 it asked me for the serial number of my older version of PS. I typed it in and away I went.
So it shouldn't matter if your upgrade can't see an earlier version of PS.

Thanks for your replies. The CD spins with a 'hunting' sound and is then ejected after 15-20 secs. I agree it could be a faulty disk so I've returned it. I'll keep you posted.

Download the trial from the Adobe site - It's the same install as the ful version on the dvd, just put in your serial number when prompted.

No need Kevin - I swapped the drive to a spare DVD/CD reader and I've now installed CS3. Sorry I didn't mention it.

Glad all is now installed - I had a dodgy DVD from Adobe and I just installed from the trial whilst they sent me another replacement. They told me the installation is identical, it's just the serial that activates it.
