Does anyone know what the biggest C/F card capacity is that can be used?

I have looked in the manual and it does not say what the max size is, the only ref to card size is mentioned on page 94 and that is 1Gb for using in video mode.
My wife currently uses a Sandisk 2gb, but for video I would prefer a larger one, around 4 or 8gb, seeing as though they are relatively cheap.

The only reference I could see was a 2Gb limit on the xD card, I couldn't see a limit to the CF card size, it maybe that it is also limited to 2Gb. If you have another camera that can use a larger than 2gb CF card by one for that and try it.

I don't think there is a limit really. It was one of the things users of the old Fujifilm cameras were complaining about and Fujifilm addressed that with the new ones. The old cameras were using FAT16 the new ones use FAT32 which means or should mean you can use any.
There was an option using format.exe in the command prompt to make the old cameras read 4GB.
I think the references on the manual regarding the xD cards may be out of date. I think they say what they say in the manual as at the time of S9600 release the biggest xD was 2GB.

I think the misleading thing is that on the video pages,it states xd cards and microdrive.
But the larger slot is for microdrive/compact flash.
Thanks Burgy

Yeah Fujifilm are a bit silly with that. Officially they only support Microdrive. I don't have any manuals for their current cameras but I was expecting that even that was to be changed given that Microdrives are virtually out of the market.
I have the S20pro and S3pro and yes, the same thing
