I have just returned froma few days away to over 700 posts. I don't see a title about this subject but apologies if this is a duplicate.
When I registered I used my real address. In typing my name I made a slight typo that makes my registration on this site quite distinctive.
During my absence I received a letter (about financial planning in retirement) addressed to me using my 'typo name'. That can only mean one thing - AP has apparently sold the member list. Did I sign up for that? I think not. I'm very unhappy and have not quite decided what to do about it.

So, you made a typo but there's no possible way that anyone else or any system could also make the same mistake?
I'd be very sure of the facts before open accusations if I were you.

Aren't you jumping to conclusions here?
I don't believe that AP or IPC collects postal addresses on registration so they wouldn't have it on file anyway. Besides, if you can make that typo, then somebody else can too and it is probably no more than a likely coincidence.

As Lounge Lizard/David says I do not recall registration to this site ever requiring a mailing address. If you would care to send me a PM with all of the details I will have the matter investigated.

Hello Mick we do not hold any details of your address. Therefore I can only assume that the 'mail shot' you received originated with another source.

I much appreciate your trouble. As you know I posted in the heat of the moment and it would have been better to attack the issue differently.
BTW I still have absolutely no clue about how the link between the name and the address has happened. I guess that I probably never will.
