A lot of us use the lenses. Some use the SD DSLR and now the DP1 C size compact seems to be really imminent. What more do Sigma need to do for AP to have a subforum. I would have thought that if Panasonic has its own area within Equipment then Sigma should do so.,

Come on now - it's all the IT department can do to keep this shaky edifice running 24-ish/7 as it is, without the added load of a Sigma forum.

Come to think of it, no Samoca, Walz, Taron, Beauty, Kowa forums either.

If space can be made for unusual benches .................

What! There's an area dedicated to benches here... Where, show me, I'll have some of that.

Maybe a section on Optics, would be better; after all, Sigma manufacturers optics to fit a number of manufacturers cameras, and generally, when the subject of Sigma's lenses is raised, it is in the context of how it compares to others. The optical design of say, a 100mm macro, will remain the same whether it fits a Canon, Nikon or Sony, so somewhere one can compare the qualities of all the various optical brands under one heading, would be more useful.

After all, if I was seeking information about using a Lensbaby, Perspective Control or a Process lens, at present I would have to trawl through all the various camera makes, to find such an article. Furthermore, it's more than likely that any lens-related comments will be buried within the text of someone's posting, so the search facility would have to be very sophisticated to track it down!

Fair point but would something like this not belong in "Camera Chat" or "Other Brands"?

What independent brands are there these days? (SLR fitting lenses ... rangefinders complicate the issue somewhat) Are we down to Sigma, Tamron, Tokina and a few manual focus lenses from Zeiss?

And some manual focus Voigtlander lenses. And I think there are still some Cosina AF lenses around in various guises, but certainly brands other than those three are decidedly uncommon.

If we're into creating new forums, how about a 'Feedback on this week's AP' one?

I don't subscribe myself, so the comments from the subbies over the weekend would be a handy pointer as to whether I should pop to the shop & buy one ...
