Picture from an old Ikonta I resurrected ...
Full frame ...

... and a 100% crop.

I get a lot of enjoyment from saving these old cameras from the land fill .. and then seeing, with a bit of mending up, what they can do

Lovely! Definitely a job worth doing - I like the old Zeiss folders. I have one of the 6x9 Super Ikontas from about the mid-1930s in very usable condition - I should take it out more often.

Lovely examples! I'm envious...
I was very tempted by a 532/16 last Sunday at the Potters Bar camera fair. Externally it seemed in good condition, but the vendor, an honest one, said there was a mark on the rear surface of the lens. Viewed from the rear, it was nearly invisible, but from the front, on B, I think I was seeing signs of the balsam cement failing on the rear element, so I gave it a miss. Many years ago I bought a 6x9cm pre-war Super Ikonta fully expecting it to be better than my SRT101 with 50 f1.7. No way! It was dreadful, the rangefinder was out, and I now wonder if the rear element had been reversed or similar.

Huw, Malcolm - thanks for the encouraging comments
I have a small collection of Zeiss cameras which I've acquired over the years, most have needed some renovation, if only cleaning haze from the lenses. I've been impressed with the performance of the Tessar lens, which all mine sport, despite their age and the lack of coating on the earlier ones.
I'm just putting a film through a Contax IIa from the fifties, this has a Sonnar 50mm f1.5 lens fitted.
It's a shame when folk dabble trying to clean/fix these cameras and screw them up. I've seen quite a few which have had a lens element wrongly replaced. But worse is when the rangefinders have been "adjusted" - takes an age to get them back in alignment!

Good stuff, looks like it's still capable of outstanding results.

I have a Super Ikonta 531 (16 on 120). It is so beautifully compact but doesn't take such good pictures as yours.
